Trick or Treating & Play dates!!

So Rylan's first Halloween was a successful one. Although he wanted nothing to do with his costume, I was able to get a few good shots of him. 

He did, however enjoy the candy..

So yesterday, Rylan had his very first play date! Lauren & Dylan came over for a visit & to pick up some of Rylan's clothes he didn't fit into anymore. The 2 of them were beyond adorable together. As Dylan was pooping, Rylan was burping. It was like they were having their very own bodily function contest. Before they left, of course Lauren & I had to get pictures of them together. 

Total best buds for life.. Can't wait to do it again! 

Never Grow Up..

So many of you know how much in LOVE I am with Taylor Swift. Hate her or not, I don't care. I think she is extremely talented and has amazing song writing abilities. Well, Monday her new album came out and I was beyond thrilled because it had leaked online 4 days early so I was able to get a first listen.

So here I am sitting in bed, listening to the song 'Never Grow Up' .. needless to say after the first verse I was hysterical in tears. Chris just looked at me like I was INSANE.. But I had to play it over for him so he could understand why I was crying.. It was really the first verse that got to me..

Apple picking & more!

I realize I'm way behind and I apologize! I meant to blog last Saturday after we all went apple & pumpkin picking. Rylan was actually awake & alert the entire time.. unlike last time we went, he wanted nothing to do with anything. He even helped pick apples & held one for a little while.. (Yes I realize he's 3 months old, but he did it!) 

So, in other news.. for the past few weeks, Chris & I have been trying to get Rylan to roll over. He's almost 4 months and I know that's one of the few milestones when you hit that age group. He's so active with his legs, I knew it would happen soon..


Tuesday night after his bath, I hear Chris yelling "Why hasn't he ever worn these?" and I knew exactly what he was talking about. When I went to FL with my mom in February, I had found Juicy Couture boys shoes at TJMaxx. I wasn't planning on taking them out of the box.. they were more kind of like display shoes (I'm crazy I know).. so when he said that I knew EXACTLY what he was talking about. Sure enough, I go upstairs and there's Rylan on his changing table in nothing but a diaper and his Juicy shoes. I will admit, I did yell at Chris for opening them. lol. Rylan seemed to love them.. They are very shiny and blue.


So we put him on the floor so he could flail his legs around and slowly he started to roll over to his side but then he would get stuck so he would roll back. Just for fun, we got the video camera ready because it was so funny and he was having such a good time.


We ended up taking 2 videos (These did not end up on facebook).. So just for fun, I kept the camera rolling while Rylan kicked up a storm and all of a sudden out of NOWHERE, Rylan rolled over! 


The best part was we have all the events leading up to it on video.. I know some people would kill to have that moment saved. And you knew he had never done it before based on our reactions at the end. We both pretty much screamed and were laughing so hard we had tears streaming down our face.


The first thing I did was call my mom.. even though it was 9:30 at night I needed to tell someone!!


And he's been rolling over ever since.. and getting better at.. he had some issues with getting his arm unstuck but that's normal...

First Family Restaurant Outing!

So last night, Chris & I decided to be adventurous and take Rylan to a restaurant. He seemed like he was in a good mood at the time. So we drove to Bertucci's in Waterbury and decided to visit some old friends. Chris was SO nervous to bring him.. he didn't want to be "those people" who had a tiny baby in a restaurant who cried during the entire meal... I told him we couldn't shelter the kid forever and we just had to suck it up and try it out.

So we get to our table.. and mind you, it would have been a hell of a lot easier if Rylan could sit in a highchair... We had no idea what to do with him! He didn't want to sit in his car seat.. so the best we could do, was hold him on our lap and switch on & off so the other could eat. He definitely got fussy.. but it was nothing a bottle couldn't handle.

Overall, I would say it was a decent experience.. It was our first time so now we know what to expect & what to do.. I think we'll try this out again when he has a little more head & neck support and might be able to sit in a highchair... We'll see. 

 He definitely eyed this pizza like nobody's business..

 I would say it's almost time to try cereal & baby food!

So now that Rylan is 3 months old, he loves to put anything & everything in his mouth.

You give him a toy, it goes in his mouth.. 

You give him a stuffed moose.. it goes in his mouth..

His fingers & hands..

You change his diaper one day.. and THIS ends up in his mouth...

Yes. That would be his feet. Needless to say.. THIS is what happened next.

We had to rinse our mouth out. =)

Mommywood .. 101.

So I promised myself I would begin a new blog once Rylan was born... well here we are.. 3 months later. I may be a little late.. but that's okay. He'll live.


The past 3 months have been the most incredible 3 months of my life. Watching him grow everyday is so surreal. Plus, he has the most perfect daddy. It was very very hard in the beginning.. but now he's on somewhat of a schedule.. I won't say it's a breeze now.. but it is definitely better than say the first month. You don't really know what to expect when you come home that first night. Luckily, he's a GREAT baby who sleeps & eats well.

I'm also going to make this a baby / food / cooking / picture blog. Anything I can write about or photograph, I will. I may even have more than one post a day. (and expect to see a TON of pictures of Rylan) So please save this in your favorites and join me for the ride!
